Roster of Ohio Militia, War of 1812, 1812-1815.

Company entries include name of the captain and occasionally the name of a higher commanding officer, usually a colonel; the number of the battalion; the number of the brigade; the number of the regiment; and the county or counties from which the company was drawn. Members of each comnpany are then listed individually, with militia member's name, rank, date of appointment or enlistment, and date of end of enlistment. The second volume is an index to the first volume. The third volume has no index.

When Mexican and Civil War soldiers mustered out of service, many regiments turned their flags over to the state of Ohio. The General Assembly authorized the purchase of glass cases to display battle flags in the Statehouse. The battle flag collection increased as flags from the Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II were deposited. By the 1960s the flags were in poor condition.
